Honorable Mention At Willamette Lavender Plein Air Competition

I was blessed and honored to receive an honorable mention ribbon in the professional artist division of the Willamette Lavender Plein Air Painting Competition. My painting "Lavender  Flower Mix"; a 16x20 oil on linen panel, was painted at Mountain Side Lavender Farm in Hillsboro. 

I have received an awards in the past with  paintings done en plein air at the Hillside Lavender Farm. One of my plein air paintings named "Little Warm Up For 2"  was  included in the Mayor's Gift Exhibit at Hillsboro City Hall this year and purchased by a collector in the  SW Portland area.  Another "It takes 2 Baby" was purchased by Barcelona at Beaverton, in Beaverton OR for their public art collection.

while the artist paints the Stern-wheeler at Rockets Landing during the Richmond Plein Air Competition. It was such an awesome part of the adventure of painting in my 1st out of state juried plein air competition. I was awed by the magnificent scenery of Richmond, the kind and welcoming locals and the professional talent I was blessed to be in an exhibition with.

Fun a Mitch Baird and Eric Jacobsen's Workshops this month

It is always a challenge to fit in seasons of learning when you are constantly performing the tasks of your business. Sometimes you reach those plateaus or have a series of paintings where you know you are missing core areas of good painting. Instruction from good professional painters who teach well are so valuable to emerging professional artists. I'm blessed to live in the Portland, Oregon area where there are so many well schooled nationally and internationally ranked professionals who are willing to take the time to teach. Many Thanks to artists like Mitch Baird & Eric Jacobsen, who travel back to Oregon occasionally to give work shops.

In my own back yard is Jennifer Diehl, Thomas Kits, Yer Za Vu, Eric, Bowman, Joanne, Mehl, Joanne Kollam &Karen Lewis who also occasionally offer workshops. Many more withing doable driving distance. It seems Oregon is a magnet to great artists.

Laguna Plein Air Painters Association Best of Plein Air

Anna Lancaster’s plein air painting “Swan Island Dahlia Gardens” was accepted into the Laguna Plein Air Painter Association Best of Plein Air 2016 Online Show Case; Expanded Online Gallery of this year’s LPAPA’a Best of Plein Air Exhibition.
